On the 21st of June 2025, after 2 years and 4 months of unjust imprisonment in Equatorial Guinea, Frik Potgieter and Peter Huxham finally returned home to South Africa. Their release was the result of a relentless effort—the Frik and Peter campaign—driven by families, communities, and our agency, ZebraCrossing.World.
This was more than a campaign—it was a movement. A story of families, communities, and an agency uniting around one goal: to shine an unrelenting light on injustice until change came.
Building Momentum with the Frik and Peter Campaign
When we began the Frik and Peter campaign in July 2024, their story was little known. In just a year, the campaign transformed into a movement that galvanized thousands.
- Facebook grew to 3.4K followers, with posts reaching 60,592 views and 48,728 interactions.
- LinkedIn generated 300K+ impressions and nearly 7,000 interactions, engaging professionals and policy voices.
- Change.org petition secured 17,000+ signatures, proving the power of digital petitions to drive awareness and pressure decision-makers.

Beyond Metrics: Real Lives, Real Impact
The campaign was never just about numbers. It was about human stories. The families of Frik and Peter—Sonja and Kathy—shared their voices, heartbreak, and unshakable determination. Their courage kept momentum alive, ensuring this injustice stayed in the public eye.
Our own agency history shows how we use storytelling as activism, as seen in other projects at ZebraCrossing.World.

The Power of Persistence
From July 2024 to June 2025, ZebraCrossing.World ensured Frik and Peter’s names never faded. With every post, petition update, and voice note from their loved ones, public pressure grew stronger.
By the time South Africa’s Parliament began tabling the issue, the campaign had already created unstoppable momentum.

A Shared Victory
When Frik and Peter stepped onto South African soil on June 21st, it was proof that activism works. This was the power of community, persistence, and digital strategy aligning for justice.
At ZebraCrossing.World, we are proud to have led this campaign. The Frik and Peter campaign is a testament to what’s possible when humanity, creativity, and advocacy unite.ove mountains.
Thank You
To the families who trusted us.
